Can’t Find a Registrar in Carlisle or the Lake District?

March 25th, 2025 by

If you are struggling to secure a local registrar for your marriage registration, you aren’t alone. With the Lake District being such a world-famous wedding destination, many couples find that official registrars are fully booked months, or even years, in advance.

Wedding Special Day
Weddings Celebrant

If you’ve set your heart on a specific date but the Local Authority in Cumbria is unavailable, you might be feeling anxious. Will you have to reschedule your entire celebration? What is the next step?

As a professional Celebrant specialising in bespoke and last-minute ceremonies, I’m here to tell you that you have wonderful options.

Your Best Options When a Registrar is Unavailable

If you want to keep your date and your dream Lake District venue, here is how we can make it happen:

  • The “Two-Part” Wedding: Many couples now choose to handle the legal paperwork at a registry office on a quiet weekday (which is often cheaper and easier to book).

  • The Main Event: This leaves you free to have your bespoke wedding ceremony on your chosen date.

  • No Restrictions: Unlike a registrar-led service, a Celebrant-led ceremony has no legal wording requirements, meaning we can focus entirely on your story.

Expert Support in Carlisle & the Lakes

Clive

My heart goes out to any couple facing the stress of a fully booked registrar. However, looking to the future means you can now plan a ceremony that is actually better and more personal than a standard legal script.

Top Tip: Work closely with your wedding vendors. We often coordinate to find dates that work for everyone, ensuring your day in the Lakes is seamless and stress-free.

The Celebrant Advantage

Choosing a Celebrant is the perfect solution for couples seeking flexibility. Unlike Registrars, who often manage multiple ceremonies in one day, most Celebrants dedicate their entire day to just one wedding. This means your ceremony is never rushed, and the timing is entirely up to you.

Registrar vs. Celebrant: What’s the Difference?

The main distinction lies in the legalities and the script:

  • Registrars: Employed by the Local Authority to register marriages at licensed venues using a pre-set legal script.

  • Celebrants: Self-employed professionals who create a bespoke, unique script written from scratch. This allows for deeply personal vows and a ceremony that truly reflects your bond.

Note: In England and Wales, a Celebrant-led ceremony is a celebration of your commitment and is not currently legally binding on its own.

How Do We Handle the Legal Part?

To ensure your marriage is recognised in England and Wales, you simply complete the “legal administration” at a local Register Office (like Carlisle or your local district office).

  • The Process: This is a quick, straightforward appointment with two witnesses to sign the register.

  • The Cost: This “statutory ceremony” is the most cost-effective way to handle the paperwork (currently approximately £50–£60 plus certificate fees).

  • The Benefit: By separating the “admin” from the “celebration,” you save the most meaningful, memorable moments for your Lake District wedding ceremony.

Will a Celebrant Ceremony Feel “Real”?

Absolutely. In fact, most guests won’t even realise it isn’t the “legal” portion. Because we include all the heartfelt elements—like your ring exchange and personalised vows—it often feels more authentic than a standard service.

There are no rules here: you aren’t restricted by venue licensing or “standard” wording. Whether you want to marry on a Lakeland fell or in your own garden, the choice is yours.

A Wedding Elopement Stress-Free Ceremony in Carlisle and the Lake District

February 16th, 2025 by

What is a Wedding Elopement?

Your Guide to a Stress-Free Ceremony in Carlisle and the Lake District

Does the idea of a massive traditional wedding freak you out? When all you really want to do is marry the one you love, the pressure of a 200-person guest list can feel overwhelming. If you find yourself dreaming of something simpler, more intimate, and entirely about your connection, you likely need an elopement celebrant.

Many people ask: “Isn’t an elopement just running off to Las Vegas for an Elvis wedding?” Well, yes and no! While a neon-lit chapel in Nevada is a classic choice, a modern elopement offers so much more. It isn’t about escaping your life; it is about choosing a ceremony that truly represents your love for each other.

The Modern Elopement: Anything but Ordinary

Forget the clichés. Your elopement can happen anywhere. At Special Moments Celebrant, I see love celebrated in the most breathtaking corners of the North West. Your “altar” could be:

  • Your own home or kitchen: The ultimate intimate setting in Carlisle.

  • Hidden destinations: A quiet spot in the middle of nowhere.

  • The Lake District: A windswept lakeside with nothing but the sound of the water.

  • A Fells Summit: A rugged, romantic exchange of vows overlooking the Cumbrian peaks.

Whether you want a short, “no BS” ceremony or an extended, heartfelt declaration of your journey together, the choice remains yours. You don’t need a crowd of guests to make your promises valid. You just need each other.

Breaking the “Wedding Template”

You have probably attended dozens of weddings that followed the exact same script. When you see the same format repeatedly, planning something different feels difficult. You might wonder what you can and cannot do. You might feel unsure about what to ask your celebrant.

Here is the truth: the legal requirements for marriage in the UK are actually very simple. Every civil marriage follows the same basic steps, whether you host an outlandish gala or a tiny, private elopement in Cumbria.

The Simple Legal Reality

In the UK, the legal aspect of your marriage can cost as little as £57 at your local registry office. To get married, you simply have to:

  1. Sign the documents.

  2. Show your identification.

  3. Say the required legal words.

Once you complete those statutory steps, the rest of the day belongs to you. This is where your elopement becomes unique. By separating the “paperwork” from the “poetry,” you gain the freedom to celebrate exactly how you wish.

How to Find the Right Elopement Celebrant

Finding the right celebrant is like finding the right pair of shoes; they need to fit your style, your vibe, and your budget. You want someone who delivers the ceremony precisely how you want it done.

As your independent elopement celebrant, I provide a service built around your needs. Here is what I offer to make your dream a reality:

1. Tailored Timing

Your ceremony can last 20 to 30 minutes, or we can keep it as “short and sweet” as you like. We move at your pace, not the venue’s schedule.or a Registars  (once I had the brides Flower stuck on the M6)so times need to move.

2. A Fun, Relatable Vibe

I don’t do boring. I create ceremonies that are engaging, relatable, and 100% focused on the two of you. We celebrate your story, your quirks, and your future.

3. Vow Support

Do you want to write your own vows but feel stuck on the first sentence? I provide full support to help you find the right words to say exactly what is in your heart.

4. Unlimited Communication

From the moment you book until the moment you say “I do,” you have unlimited access to me via phone and online. I am here to answer every question and calm every nerve. ( I once had a couple who hired a house in the UK, were living abroad , all done via zoom and  what’s app  etc )

5. Support for Unique Ideas

Do you want to include a handfasting by a Lake District tarn? Do you want your dog to be the ring bearer? I support all your “out of the box” decisions. If it matters to you, it matters to me.

The “Clive” Touch: More Than Just Words

Weddings

Beyond the script, I bring something unique to your wedding day. I have a natural ability to see the things that need doing—and I just do them.

My passion is to make your day everything you want it to be, and more. Even though I play a small part in the grand story of your life, I take that responsibility seriously. I aim to infuse your special romantic day with a little bit of magic and a huge amount of love.

“Clive has that rare ability to stay calm and proactive. He doesn’t just lead the ceremony; he ensures the entire moment feels seamless.”

Start Planning Your Special Moment

Why don’t have to follow the crowd. You don’t have to plan a wedding that makes you feel anxious.  Choose a path that feels like home.

Getting Engaged This Christmas: A Season of Love and Commitment

December 26th, 2024 by

This Christmas:

A Season of Love and Commitment & Engagement Rings

As the festive season envelops us in its warm embrace, we find ourselves surrounded by twinkling lights, the scent of cinnamon, and the joyous sound of carols filling the air. Christmas is often dubbed the season of love, and for good reason. With about 40% of couples choosing to get engaged during this magical time, it’s clear that love is truly all around us.

As a celebrant offering bespoke ceremonies on the in the Lake District and across the northwest and beyond, I have the privilege of witnessing countless love stories unfold. Each relationship is unique, reflecting the individuality of the couple, regardless of their sexuality. This diversity is what makes love such a beautiful journey.

The Magic of Christmas Proposals

Christmas Romance and Love

Christmas proposals are special, not just for their romantic gestures but also for the memories they create. Imagine a snowy evening, the glow of fairy lights, and the sound of laughter echoing around you. It’s the perfect backdrop for a heartfelt proposal. Whether it’s a surprise engagement amidst the festivities or a planned moment designed to reflect your relationship, the spirit of Christmas can enhance the magic of this significant milestone.

Many couples choose to incorporate festive elements into their proposals. Think about proposing beneath the mistletoe or during a candlelit dinner with a view of a Christmas tree adorned with shimmering ornaments. These thoughtful touches add a level of intimacy and warmth, making the moment even more memorable.

Love Stories: A Personal Touch

Every love story is different, and that individuality should be reflected in your engagement ceremony. As a celebrant, I believe that every couple deserves a ceremony that captures the essence of their relationship—the moment they fell in love, the experiences that have shaped them, and the commitment they wish to make.

For some, this might mean a traditional ceremony steeped in family customs, while others might prefer a modern, unique celebration. The beauty of bespoke ceremonies is that they can be tailored to your preferences, allowing you to weave in personal touches that are meaningful to you both.

Celebrating Commitment: Renewing Your Vows

Christmas is not just a time for new beginnings; it’s also an opportunity to celebrate the journeys of those who have been together for some time. Many couples choose to renew their vows during this season, reaffirming their love and commitment to one another. A surprise vow renewal can be a wonderful way to express your love and appreciation for your partner, creating an unforgettable moment that echoes the spirit of the season.

Imagine gathering your closest friends and family, surrounded by the warmth of Christmas, to witness your renewed commitment. The atmosphere is filled with love, laughter, and joy as you share your journey, recounting the highs and lows that have brought you to this moment. This celebration can be as grand or as intimate as you desire, focusing on what truly matters—your love for one another.

The Role of Music in Romance at Christmas

During the Christmas season. Music plays a significant role in setting the mood for romance. From classic carols to contemporary love songs, the melodies of the season have a way of tugging at the heartstrings. Many couples find that music enhances their engagement experience, whether it’s playing their favourite love song during the proposal or choosing a special playlist for their ceremony.

Consider incorporating songs that hold special meaning for you as a couple. This could be the song that played on your first date or a piece that resonates with your relationship journey. Music has the power to evoke emotions and memories, making it an essential element in creating a memorable engagement experience.

Planning Your Engagement

Festive? Christmas Love

If you’re contemplating a Christmas proposal, here are a few tips to ensure it goes off without a hitch:

1. Choose the Right Setting:

Consider locations that hold significance for you as a couple. Whether it’s a favourite spot in your hometown, a restaurant where you had your first date or a beautiful outdoor location, the setting can enhance the magic of your proposal.

2. Personal Touches @ Christmas:

Think about ways to personalise your proposal. This could be through incorporating elements that reflect your relationship, such as a shared hobby or an inside joke.

3. Involve Loved Ones @ Christmas:

Consider involving family and friends in your proposal at Christmas. Their presence can add to the joy of the moment and create a supportive atmosphere.

4. Capture the Moment at Christmas:

Whether through photographs or video, consider documenting the proposal. These memories will be cherished for years to come.

Christmas love and engagements

Conclusion

As we embrace the beauty of the Christmas season, let’s celebrate love in all its forms. Whether you’re planning a surprise engagement, a heartfelt vow renewal, or simply reflecting on your journey together, remember that love is a unique tapestry woven from the moments you share.

You can’t beat Love!

As a celebrant, I am very blessed to witness love in all its beautiful forms form happy celebrations to sad moments in life. And today, I want to share a little love story of my own with all of you. “Why Not Celebrate love”

Finding Love

We love to celebrate

I consider myself incredibly lucky to have met my amazing wife in the picturesque market town of Ludlow. From the moment we laid eyes on each other, there was an undeniable connection. We talked and listened, getting to know each other on a deeper level. And that was just the beginning of a love story that has withstood the changing tides and challenging moments of life the ups and downs, and we have learnt how to share those special times and value those closest to us.

Love is a journey

Love is a journey, my friends. It evolves, it grows, and it teaches us valuable lessons along the way. Through the years, my wife and I have experienced highs and lows, laughter and tears, but through it all, our love has remained steadfast. We’ve come to realize that love is not stagnant; it is ever-changing, just like we are as individuals.

Cherish moments of Love

That’s why we cherish moments like Valentine’s Day. It’s an opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and celebrate the love that binds us together. It’s a chance to remind ourselves of the depth of our affection and to show appreciation for each other.

So, on this romantic day celebrate love , I encourage you all to take a moment to appreciate the love in your life. Whether it’s a partner, a friend, or a family, let them know how much they mean to you. Embrace the beauty of love and let it inspire you to be the best version of yourself.

Wishing you all a Valentine’s Day filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments. Remember, love changes and grows, so cherish every step of the journey. ❤️✨ Maybe its time to ask a me how you can  Celebrate Love in your life wedding renewal  , Baby naming or even Celebrant a loved ones life.

Clive

you can't beat a good love story

As you’ve chosen me? Celebrant to create your unique ceremony and lead these special moments; it will be unforgettable!!

Unique Touches for Your Wedding Ceremony

As your Celebrant, I create exciting and memorable wedding ceremonies for every couple. By adding personal, quirky, or traditional touches, we ensure your day is one of a kind. Here is one of my favourite ways to involve your loved ones:

The Ring Warming Ceremony

A Ring Warming is a beautiful, meaningful addition to a wedding that always delights guests. It allows everyone to play a part in your ceremony from the very beginning.

How it works:

  • The Presentation: Your rings are placed in a pouch, on a cushion, or in a glass box.

  • The Blessing: The rings are passed among your guests, who are invited to hold them for a few seconds.

  • The Intent: Guests “warm” the rings with their silent wishes, prayers, or thoughts for your future health and happiness.

  • The Exchange: By the time you place the rings on each other’s fingers, they have been infused with the love and support of your family and friends.

Make it Your Own

To help your guests understand the process, you can include a small explanatory note on their seats or within your Order of Ceremony. This ensures everyone feels included in this touching tradition.

Handfasting: The Original Way to “Tie the Knot”

This ancient wedding tradition is where the phrase “tying the knot” originated. It involves binding the couple’s joined hands with cords, ribbons, or sashes to symbolise their union. Even modern royal weddings have included this beautiful ritual during their ceremonies.

Customising Your Handfasting Ceremony

A modern handfasting is incredibly versatile and can be tailored to your unique story:

  • Meaningful Materials: You can use cords in your wedding colours, family tartans, or even sentimental fabric—like lace from a mother’s or grandmother’s gown.

  • Symbolic Charms: Attach charms to your cords that represent fertility, fidelity, and lifelong commitment.

  • Colour Symbolism: Each cord colour carries its own special meaning, allowing you to choose shades that reflect your values.

  • Family Involvement: The ceremony can be specially written to include family members and guests, who can help bind the ribbons.

What to Expect

A full handfasting ceremony typically lasts around 20 minutes. Because there are no rigid rules, we can create a bespoke script that feels natural, inclusive, and deeply personal to your relationship.

Jumping the Broom: A Symbol of New Beginnings

Jumping the Broom is a spirited wedding tradition rooted in various cultures, each offering its own unique meaning. In the UK, this ritual is a powerful symbol of “sweeping away the old” and preparing for your new life together.

Why Choose This Tradition?

This lively ceremony is often chosen as a joyful finale to a Handfasting, and it brings a touch of fun to your special day:

  • Sweeping Away the Past: Historically, it represents clearing the “threshing floor” of your old life to make room for the new.

  • Friendly Competition: Folklore suggests that the partner who jumps highest or fastest over the broom will “wear the trousers” in the relationship!

  • A Hand-in-Hand Leap: Couples jump together, hand in hand, symbolising their first collective step into their future.

  • A Lasting Keepsake: Brooms can be beautifully decorated in your wedding colours and kept as a unique souvenir of your ceremony.

Bespoke Ceremonies in Cumbria

Whether you are getting married in Carlisle or against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District, I can help you weave these inclusive and quirky traditions into a ceremony that is truly yours.

The Sand Ceremony: A Beautiful Blend of Families

The Sand Ceremony is a popular and visually stunning addition to any wedding, offering a powerful symbol of unity. Once the individual grains of sand are poured from separate vials into a single central vessel, they can never be separated again.

Why Choose a Sand Ceremony?

This ritual is particularly inclusive and perfect for modern families:

  • Blending Families: It is a wonderful way to involve children or extended family members, symbolising the joining of two lives into one.

  • Vibrant Customisation: You can use multiple colours of sand to match your wedding theme or represent different family members.

  • No Limits: Unlike other rituals, you aren’t restricted to just two participants—the more the merrier!

  • A Lasting Keepsake: The filled vessel becomes a beautiful piece of art to display in your home as a reminder of your special day in Cumbria.

Bespoke Ceremonies in the Lake District

Whether you are celebrating in a stately home in Carlisle or by the water in the Lake District, a Sand Ceremony adds a heartfelt, personal touch to your inclusive wedding celebration.

The Rose Ceremony: A Romantic Wedding Gesture

While Valentine’s Day is the season of romance, a Rose Ceremony brings that same timeless magic to your wedding day, regardless of the date. This simple yet profound ritual involves the couple exchanging a single red rose as their very first gift to one another as a married couple.

Beautiful Ways to Adapt Your Rose Ceremony

This tradition is incredibly flexible and can be tailored to your unique family dynamics:

  • Honouring Parents: After the welcome and introductions, you can surprise your mothers (or new mothers-in-law) with a single rose or even a rose plant—a touching gesture of gratitude and new beginnings.

  • The Guest Bouquet: For a truly romantic “Cumbria wedding” feel, each guest can hold a rose. As the bride walks down the aisle, she collects a flower from each person, forming her bouquet just as she reaches her partner.

  • Symbolic Growth: Choosing a rose plant instead of a cut flower represents a love that will continue to grow and bloom in your garden for years to come.

Bespoke Wedding Ideas in Cumbria

Whether you are planning an intimate gathering in Carlisle or a grand celebration in the Lake District, I can help you weave these romantic touches into your bespoke ceremony.

The Unity Candle Ceremony: Two Hearts, One Flame

The lighting of a Unity Candle is a beautiful and poignant moment in any wedding ceremony. This  traditionally involves the couple each lighting a small taper candle and then using them to light a larger central candle together.

The Meaning Behind the Flame

This ritual is rich with symbolic meaning, perfect for an inclusive celebration in Cumbria:

  • Ultimate Unity: It symbolises two hearts and two lives becoming one.

  • Blending Families: The ceremony represents the joining of two families into a single, supportive circle.

  • A Lasting Keepsake:

Your central candle can be engraved with your vows, names, or your wedding date. Serving as a stunning memento of your day.

Bespoke Styling Options

From grand, embellished pillars to minimalist, modern tapers. Candles tailored to match your wedding theme. Beautifully crafted holders and engraved details ensure this moment looks as stunning in your wedding photos as it feels in your hearts.

Hand Washing Bowl with Rose Water and Petals for the Ceremony

Hand or Foot Washing: A Ritual of Care and Renewal

The Hand Washing ceremony is a beautiful, modern custom gaining popularity for its tender and nurturing symbolism. Using a bowl of rose water and delicate petals, this ritual provides a deeply romantic moment during your celebration.

The Meaning of the Ritual

This ceremony is perfect for couples who value vulnerability and a fresh start:

  • Clearing the Past: It symbolises washing away past mistakes or choices, allowing you to enter your marriage with a clean slate.

  • Tender Care: The act of washing your partner’s hands represents your commitment to being a carer and supporter throughout your lives together.

  • Forgiveness & Openness: It highlights the importance of forgiveness and the beauty of loving one another with an open, honest heart.

  • Sensory Experience: Using rose water and petals adds a stunning visual and fragrant element to your Lake District wedding.

Bespoke Ceremonies in Cumbria

Whether you are planning a spiritual ceremony in Carlisle or a quiet, intimate moment overlooking a Lake District fells  this ritual offers a quiet, profound space to honour your new beginning.

Unity Rituals: Blending Your Unique Spirits

I love the concept of rituals that blend two distinct elements to create something entirely new. If you choose wine, whiskey, or even spices, these moments beautifully illustrate the harmony of marriage.

The Wine or Whiskey Blending

In a wine or whiskey blending ceremony, we demonstrate how two different spirits—much like two different people—come together.

  • The Symbolism: Just like marriage, the blend may be sweet or occasionally a little bitter.

  • The Result: The newly blended flavour reflects your unique partnership. Creating a bespoke experience to enjoy together.

The Silver Bridal Cup (The Loving Cup)

A Silver Bridal Cup, “Loving Cup,” is a unique tradition that allows two people to sip from it simultaneously.

  • Total Flexibility: You can choose any drink that holds meaning for you.

  • Bespoke Writing: I personally write every symbolic moment to reflect your specific relationship and personality. No two ceremonies are ever the same!

Spice Blending: A Sensory Alternative

You can also adapt these concepts into a Spice Blending Ceremony, layering various spices to represent the qualities you bring to your marriage:

  • Salt: Balance in life, work, and home.

  • Rosemary: Remembrance, love, and fidelity.

  • Nutmeg: Romance and warmth.

  • Poppyseed: Courage, strength, and prosperity.

  • Paprika: Passion and energy.

  • Lavender: Calm in the face of difficulty.

  • Mustard Seed: Wisdom and a long life together.

Ideas to Add the Fun Factor to Your Wedding

February 12th, 2023 by

Add the Fun Factor to Your Wedding

From the moment of our first phone call.  Your planning the best wedding possible, Ideas to Add the Fun Factor to Your Wedding. I know it will be a fantastic wedding day, as your Celebrant can’t wait to enjoy it with your family and friends; I always arrive early, so I can help add some magic. What are the fun factors you can add to your day?

These are some of the creative ideas that can add more to your magical day. We all want you to have the best day possible.

The Dance.

We’ve all heard of couples who have secretly practised a carefully-choreographed first dance, and that’s great. I never knew my own son could dance.

We have all seen Strictly Come Dancing; what if you do away with a formal First Dance altogether? Why not get all your guests involved right from the start? What better way to do that than by hiring a professional ceilidh band or barn dance? This will take away some of the pressure on you and no struggle of getting everyone on the dance floor and a great way to start the evening and get everyone mixing and trying something new and fun.

The Good Old Photo Booth

Fun Factor Wedding

The photo booth is ever-popular and with good reason. First is the DIY way. You can download an app to a phone or tablet from the app store or  Google. You also need a tripod and cheap flash ring, and a few props. These can all be downloaded and shared via Google. Or Secondly, get a professional Photo Booth. There is something enjoyable about squeezing into a little booth to take silly photos with friends or even people you didn’t know before the wedding. This is especially true if props are involved! The bonus of a photo booth is that most of them offer immediate printouts. In other words, your guests can leave with a little souvenir.

Garden Games Giant Jenga, chess or croquet can be a fun way for your guests to pass the time between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Even more, they can be fun as the evening wears on!

Jenga bricks can even be used as a guest book instead of/as well.  Your guests can be invited to write messages on. The bricks for you to keep as a fun memory of the day every time you play!

The Good Old Photo Booth. The photo booth is ever-popular and with good reason. First is the DIY way. You can download an app to a phone or tablet, a tripod and cheap flash ring, and a few props. So your guests can leave with a little souvenir.

Think of the Children!  For a Fun Factor Wedding

If you’re inviting smaller guests (Children), it can be a long day. Instead, consider hiring a team of professional entertainers to look after them during the day and the evening! It’s always great to include a ring bear or bridesmaids. Furthermore, it adds the Fun Factor to Your Wedding.

It’s always a beautiful moment when small flower girls/bridesmaids/page boys walk down the aisle. But once the ceremony is over, what then? It is standard for couples and their friends to have children. However, it can be a long (and, dare I say, boring! From their little perspective) day for them. This means that your guests can’t always focus on the essential parts of the day. I’ve often felt for the poor parent who has to take their crying child out of the ceremony and misses the all-important “I do”. Or who doesn’t get to enjoy the wedding breakfast because they are making sure that their children are ok.

Finding a company that specialises in childcare at weddings might be the answer! In fact, this can be a win-win if ever there was one!

Ceremony Bingo adds to the Fun Factor Wedding.

This works best if you are having a Celebrant-led ceremony, as your Celebrant will be in on the whole thing and can explain it to your guests before the ceremony begins. https://www.pinterest.com/littlehammergames/wedding-bingo/

You would have cards printed with particular words or phrases. At a certain point in the ceremony, the Celebrant can announce that this is where the bingo cards are to be used. Usually it is during the part where they tell your unique story. In this scenario, the two of you could join in, too. Although, be prepared for cries of “Fix” if one of you wins! This can also work well during Speeches.

Hire a Mixologist (What’s that)

Cocktail bars are becoming increasingly popular with or without alcohol, and if you’ve seen a great mixologist at work. https://www.brides.com/bartenders-best-wedding-cocktail-recipes-6746838, you’ll know they can get a crowd cheering their fancy moves. Sometimes they’ll even use visually stunning techniques involving fire and smoke! In short, it all adds the Fun Factor to Your Wedding

You could also ask them to create something entirely original for you, drawing on your personal story, or recreate a favourite drink with special significance.

Chocolate Fountain is Fun Factor

It does not need much explaining. But so much fun and messy.

There are so many aspects that can be included in your magical day and symbols within the ceremony. In fact, I love to chat over ideas you both might like.

How To Hold Your Wedding Ceremony

December 5th, 2022 by

How to Hold Your Wedding CerenibyMy focus is on couples celebrating their love in their own style, reflecting their love story. We need to remember, “Your wedding is the start of a new chapter of your life. So a ceremony that tells your unique love story is sure to be memorable, wonderful and downright brilliant.”

The fact that Celebrant-led ceremonies can take place in any location, at any time. They can take any format or style you want with content that’s special and meaningful to you. You don’t have to follow any traditional outline or include any legal words; it’s just about creating your own vows (I can help with those or write them) and promises to each other in a location of your choosing. Pretty lovely, right…? Including any elements of your beliefs or elements you want.

If this sounds like your kind of ceremony, then we need to chat.

How to Hold your Wedding Ceremony at an Unlicensed Venue

As I’m an independent wedding celebrant and family Celebrant, This means not only do I have the best job in the world. I also get to visit lots of fantastic wedding venues and meet amazing couples

If you’re wondering what a wedding celebrant

Let me explain – we’re here to conduct your personal and ceremonies celebrations for couples and families. We’re not tied to any religion or faith group. Any location, and we don’t have to include any specific words or rituals in the ceremonies that we write. So, in short, whatever, whenever and wherever you want to get married will be just fine with me! I sadly can’t legally marry you, though there is a movement to change UK legislation. I can give you a wedding ceremony, vow renewal or wedding celebration that’s entirely yours, and for that reason, celebrant-led ceremonies are becoming increasingly popular. A simple statutory paperwork Ceremony costs only £57.

Working with a wedding celebrant, there are no rules.

You can involve anyone in the ceremony; you can say what you like, you can include (or exclude) any of the traditional wedding elements, and, importantly, you can hold your ceremony absolutely anywhere. We don’t need a venue to hold a wedding licence.

Yes, you read that right – wedding celebrants can (and do!) conduct ceremonies anywhere. So, if you thought that a particular venue, glorious garden, or meaningful spot was off the wedding venue shortlist, think again.

Just imagine the wedding possibilities!

That wonderful outdoor ceremony that you always dreamed about can actually happen! You can create your own wedding venue and hold your ceremony there too. This summer, I’m conducting ceremonies in a walled garden, on an island, in woodland, and someone’s home and inside a venue that’s very special to the couple in question but doesn’t hold a licence for civil ceremonies. I can’t wait, and I just know that each wedding will be a genuinely individual affair, always for a little bit of Clive Magic.

Included are pictures of some of the venues. I am always there at the end of the phone or email to make your day unique.

How much does a wedding celebrant cost?

August 20th, 2022 by

When considering your options, it is worth noting that my price is about the same as: or sometimes less than, booking a registrar to come to your venue for your wedding. A Celebrant is a  lot more personal (than whatever registers say).

What your investment will buy you:

  • Not ‘slots’. A guaranteed booking of your wedding day. I book out the whole day for you in my diary. So you get to say when and where you want me.
  • As a Trained Professional Celebrant with over 25 years of conducting all types of Ceremonies and fully insured.
  • A first meeting, where we discuss early ideas, get the ‘big picture of the wedding and get to know each other a little bit.
  • A questionnaire for you to fill in together. (I’ve had so much feedback from couples about how much they love doing this, despite initial reticence!) all about you two and your relationship.
  • If needed, A second meeting ( which may be via Zoom) where I read you the first draft of your script, and we firm up the details of what the ceremony will include.
  • A unique wedding ceremony script, written by me, to reflect your love story and all of the things you have told me about yourselves. This can be tweaked and added. I can help write your vows if you wish.

  • Guidance on readings or your ceremonies and other aspects of the wedding itself.
  • Access to me throughout the whole process – I’m on the other end of the phone or an email if you have any questions, ideas or worries about your ceremony.
  • Wedding Reversal’s, since Covid has usually been done via Zoom a few days before a wedding rehearsal and answers those last-minute questions.
  • My delivery of your ceremony on your big day.
  • On the day, I always arrive early.
  • A personalised Special Moments wedding certificate.
  • Check out the blog post for further details. (coming soon.)
  • Further travel or equipment (e.g. Sand Ceremony kits, hand fastening etc.). Will incur further reasonable costs. This will be discussed and agreed on early in our conversations it’s important you don’t incur any sudden unexpected expenses.

All this form only £475.

As a Celebrant, I also offer a payment plan to help spread the costs.

How far can our wedding celebrant travel?

As a wedding celebrant, I am based in Wigton, and Live in Northern Lake District price 20 miles is included. So most of the wedding ceremonies I conduct happen in and around Wigton and anywhere in the UK. I’m more than happy to travel further afield if your wedding is happening elsewhere. If you’re prepared to pay for my travel expenses, accommodation if needed.

Do you have a question that isn’t listed above,  I’ll get back to you quickly.
